Every person has their own world, a safe place hidden deep inside. However, not everyone is able to open its doors and invite other people in. Michal Wojtas, the leader of Amarok, an excellent composer and multi-instrumentalist, swings the gates wide open and invites everyone to witness the unique soul-moving sounds of his musical world. Will you answer the call and embark on this extraordinary journey, full of depth and space, written with sounds from both the heart and nature?
Michal is about to release yet another album - this time, branded with his own name. After the success of his recent albums by Amarok, it’s the turn of his solo album "Lore," - originally composed for James Wilton Company’s choreographic performance. Michal Wojtas once again proves that there is probably no musical challenge he can't handle!
Atmosphere-wise, the music - released by OSKAR Records - is set this time around the theme of "world music". You can hear Celtic, Old Slavic, and Nordic motifs, and even echoes, here and there of the sounds somewhere from the Far East! This is the kind of music that takes the listener on a journey around the world, full of relaxing and subtle sounds, at the same time, with a dose of electronics and ambient in the vicinity.
This time Michal Wojtas is assisted by Kornel Poplawski, well-known from Amarok and an outstanding instrumentalist Sebastian Wielądek. Together they tackled such unusual instruments as bark, hurdy-gurdy, duduk, shawm, violin, and ethnic drums. Besides these, there are plenty of other sounds, co-creating this unusual atmosphere like the tones of nature, voices, and whispers... All these antique sounds are perfectly combined with contemporary electronics and suck you into the world hidden in the depths of Michal Wojtas' soul. At times it seems that this is a world without any limits, and there is enough room in it for everyone!
Probably the whole thing is best enjoyed in the company of Wilton's dance choreography, but the musical proposal itself sounds extremely coherent, and I'm sure it will be a success among the audience of music with soul. All you have to do is accept Michael's invitation and visit the magical land of "Lore".
